Statement
In my preferred method of oil painting, I have begun my deep exploration of the medium through quick applications of rich, saturated color. The physical process of my brush strokes is an agitated and deliberate one. My pieces allow me to capture organic movement, bordering on restlessness, as well as apply a drawing-based approach to painting. In my more personal work, I take advantage of colorful acrylic underpaintings, creating a dreamy blur around the subject matter to the point where it feels uneasy and brooding. Ultimately, I work to make pieces reflecting inner turmoil and deeply felt psychological feelings connected to gender identity, reflection, and self acceptance.
